TKay916 tells us more.
Actually it is. I received a notice in the mail 2 weeks ago saying they'll renew my membership on the 25th and then bill me.

The last time I cancelled a service during my husband's layoff a few years ago, the company gave me six months free. It only took hubby a month to find a job and I was going to renew the service when he did. The other two I cancelled during that time who tried to pressure sell me into staying without offering me free time I told to suck off and I'd keep their service if they laid my mortgage. They didn't want to pay my mortgage so stopped with the hard sell.
OP.... How would you like to buy some of my culottes? $69.00
They don't auto renu... You singlehandedly caused the very thing you wanted to prevent. Some things are better left alone.
Chandler: "I want to quit the gym!" Those damn sales people are so pushy! Go on a landline phone, call them back and cancel again (but this time have a backbone.) That sales person doesn't know what's best for your financial situation. ***also see if they're willing to wave the annual fee. I always get my credit card late fees taken off just by asking if they would. You never know if you don't ask. (:
Holy gullibility Batman.
I don't understand why you didn't just let it expire or go to the store directly & talk to customer service, either way you'd have avoided the $55 dollars & the 25 min overage on your phone.....
Wow...i can see why they hired that guy
Man the guy on the phone is as persuasive as Bill Clinton.

Seems that maybe the root of your financial issues is that you can't say "no" to people. You're probably a wet dream for telemarketers, OP.
It's not automatic. You didn't have to call them.
