Today, I came home to find that my house had been broken into. After assessing the loss, I saw a taunting note on the fridge saying, "Locks work best when the door's SHUT." My housekeeper had apparently left the door wide open. FML

Maybe your housekeeper thought it was open house.

Your house wasn't really 'broken into', but rather 'walked into'. The thief shouldn't be charged with 'breaking and entering' -- just entering. Probably one of the easiest robberies I have known of in a long time.

The worst part is, even if OP has insurance, it probably won't cover the losses because there's no sign of forced entry :/

You need evidence of a forced entry to prove you were broken into and robbed. Your home owners insurance may not take your claim. You may need to go to small claims court to collect damages from the house sitter.

If it was the Mexican housekeeper from Family Guy, she'd say "No...I no leave the door unlock.."

You can afford a house keeper? I do not feel sorry for you at all. Stop being lazy and do the work yourself

So suddenly because they have a housekeeper you think it's ok to be a judgemental shit to OP? Without knowing any of the circumstances or how wealthy or even what losses occurred. A lot of middle class people nowadays have them, its not a thing for the 1% percent anymore so get your head out your ass.

so just because they make more money than you they deserve their stuff stolen?

What if the OP cannot physically clean the house due to health issues or disability? What if they aren't lazy, but are working long hours so don't have the time to clean their house? Heck, the OP could even BE a housekeeper, as some housekeepers have housekeepers for their houses because the last thing they want to do after cleaning others' houses all day is clean their own. The OP could also just be a parent who would rather spend time with their children than be stuck cleaning the house for hours a week. It doesn't necessarily mean that the OP has more money than you, but even if they do, that doesn't matter at all.

Sue house kepper and or the company or organization she works for!

It might have been the housekeeper who took the stuff. Just saying, because this smells fishy.
