Today, I cleaned out the fridge for my mother. I didn't throw out a single thing that was less than a month past its expiration. Instead of thanks, she complained about everything that I threw away being still good, including a tub of butter that had been expired for two years. FML

If it moves, kill it. If it's not moving it's fine to eat.

Should have allowed nature's way of showing her she's wrong.

Your mom is a hoarder and should seek help.

My mother is exactly the same way. A few weeks ago I pulled out a jar of peanut butter that expired in may of 2008. I almost barfed at the exp date.

I Think you may need to get her help...

Your mother sounds like a hoarder. And butter that's two years old? That's disgusting...

89 her pantry has always been stuffed full & this bottle had made its way to the back where it managed to stay hidden, the expiration on it was like 1993 or something... I almost felt bad throwing it away, it had survived so long

butter never goes bad so she was right to yell at you

Next time leave the bad stuff and take the good stuff with you.

That's disgusting... Just sayin

That exact story is my own. I kindly, with nothing but charitable thoughts (and personal safety) cleaned out my mother fridge and I got yelled at and told never to do it again. I swear I didn't throw anything away that wasn't practically frozen to the back of the fridge. ungrateful.
