Today, I cleaned out the fridge for my mother. I didn't throw out a single thing that was less than a month past its expiration. Instead of thanks, she complained about everything that I threw away being still good, including a tub of butter that had been expired for two years. FML

If it moves, kill it. If it's not moving it's fine to eat.

Should have allowed nature's way of showing her she's wrong.

Any amount of time past expiration is bad for you, even if it's been less than a month.

Not really the expiration date is a guess as to when the bacteria in a certain food will muliply to a certain point where its not safe to eat. Food can expire before or after the expiration date. That doesnt mean i would eat anything past its date, though. I'd rather not end up with anything furry in my mouth.

My grandpa was the same way. My grandma would have me sneak and clean out their refridgerator and we'd have to hide the stuff we threw away. Found 3-4 year-old bottles of mayo, salad dressing, and other random condiments the first time she had me do it.

well, if she is going to eat that butter, 2 years after experation, its seems no diffrent if she ate it right out of the garbage, am i right? both still gross!

my grandmother had cert-o in her cupboard from 1998..

I just did that too!! Except I had to throw our 35 lbs of rotting veggies and 15 lbs of other expired stuff. They only she said to me was "your taking out the garbage bags you filled right?"

I had to do the same thing at my office, dont even know what half the stuff i took out once was

Why the **** did she leave the butter in there? Fat ass.

I did the exact same thing only with our pantry an I found food that expired in 2001!! and my mom was getting all mad at me for throwing it away
