I agree that the media makes way too big of a deal about it but I wouldn't get my panties in a bunch about it. I mean nobody is writing Fmls about all the coverage movie and sports stars get about the trivial frivolity in their lives.
Oh boo-hoo to you. So what if people around you are excited about the birth of William and Catherine's child? They're royals and this baby is going to eventually be the leader of the UK and 15 other Commonwealth realms. That's a big deal. You'd want people to be excited about the birth of your first baby. Get over yourself.
To you maybe... but not to many others of this generation. At least Catherine's fame comes from her being in love with the heir to the throne, and not for a sex tape like Kim Krazybitch
Don't be so ridiculous #77. No matter what your views on royal vs republic you are just being obtuse. She is royal since she married a prince, she was given a title. They are far from normal people. I'm excited about it, it's not everyday you see an heir to the throne being born, it's the first in my lifetime.
You do know that the royals are only a figure for tourists? The Queen has no real power, the Prime Minister is the real leader of the country.
Please stop parroting that opinion, it's actually false. The queen does have a lot of power in the UK, and the prime minister very little. If you actually did a little research you'd find that she chooses not to use it for the good of the country and that if our prime minister wants anything done he needs to put it through the House of Commons then the House of Lords. And as for them being 'far from normal people', I wasn't saying they're amazing or super human, just that they have status and interest in this country and that is why some people care if they're having a baby. They aren't just Maureen and Dave from down the road, they're internationally known. Sorry if you don't care, but a lot of people do.
@ Lulubelle > I live in Ireland and I have studied English history, I was giving you in a nutshell what the truth is. She has a figurative role, and even if she has a weekly meeting with the Prime Minister, it’s just to keep up an old tradition. The Kings / Queens of England lost their power when James II was kicked out in 1688. The parliament makes the laws. She doesn't do it for the good of the country? Really? Did you know that the Queen, one of the richest women of the world, didn't pay taxes till 1992 and she caved in the face of public pressure? I won’t start on her absence of reaction during the Apartheid, the bloody troubles in Ireland, and all the other colonies fighting to gain their freedom. There is a reason why the Royal Family is much more popular outside UK than inside, it’s because people like them for the glam they represent but they don’t really know the reality under it.
personally, I think its sweet. While everyone is right, it gets majorly annoying, its kind of nice that people from all over the world can be excited over the birth of the next possible heir!! While babies are, yes, born everyday, it is NOT everyday that a prince or princess is born. its a happy occasion, and i understand those who are so excited about it.
I feel like I'm the only one here who's not annoyed by it and actually thinks its sweet...
It has no affect on any body's life. You can just ignore it so it's not an fml technically.

It's happening to me too and I'm in America.
I know! I plan to boycott all major forms of news for the next week because I don't want to hear about it. Though they'll probably be talking about the royal baby for the rest of our lives.
