Today, I disproved a scientific theory created by my supervisor. He was furious and said that I shouldn't have tried to disprove him. He told me to continue working with his theory and now he threatens to fire me if I publish my work. FML

Who cares? Publish it. Scientific advancement is more important than a job, and if you can disprove theories made by older and more experienced scientists, I'm sure you could find work elsewhere. Props for doing that, by the way.

Publish it, discredit him, and take his job. I understand that respect is important, but you will make a name for yourself if you do, and regret it if you don't. #1 beat me to it haha but plus why would you want to continue working for such an Asshole?

your work is correct, his is wrong. publish your work that you have worked hard for. do you work hard to learn and then ignore the truth or work hard to find the truth and let it known you were the genius to discover whatever it is your have done. I say congrats, and well done.

Publish it. I'm sure another laboratory or company will take you on. Genuine laboratories and scientists prefer truth over quashed theories right?

Intelligent Design is not a scientific theory.

What does that have to do with this F.M.L.

If it was disproven then it's not a scientific theory

If he fires you, go over his head and tell his boss.

Wait what? IMO being proven wrong is a crutial part of scientific research. ignore the douche, oubksish that paper!

Publish it anyway! Isn't it a goal in science to question old theories, do research, and propose new ideas? If no one ever challenged an old idea, nothing would be accomplished. Your supervisor is thinking in a very backwards way. He should welcome a contribution and not just flat out refuse to acknowledge it because of his ego. If I were you, I would go ahead and publish it regardless of his inane comments. Whatever you choose to do, good luck with your work, OP!
