Today, I dropped off my 19 year old daughter at her first job. It's at a strip club. FML

At least she has a job. Honest living at the end of the day. They pay taxes like the rest of us.

It's funny how people are quick to judge the strippers but not the people who go to see them :/ as for STD being STI, it is referred to as STI now because of how STDS are contracted. Because the contraction is more like an infection rather than a disease.

359, Kids will always make bad choices but thats part of living life. Shes not endangering herself in any way, its only an issue regarding sensibilities. Because of this, you can't enforce your world view on someone else just because you don't necessarily approve of things that they deem appropriate - including your adult children. If she were putting herself at some form of risk THEN you could step in. She doesn't have to believe the same things you do regarding what is or isn't acceptable behaviour if it has no negative consequences. Also, who said they blindly supported her? I'm sure they wanted to know every detail of what was going on.

Parenting win. You always need new prostitutes and strippers

Well she is trying to support herself somehow

401, Alright mate but clearly there can be very significant negative consequences to exploring a career as a teenage stripper. I honestly can't believe anyone would disagree with this.

359 & all others who judged the OP- how do you know that they didn't try to help her get a job some place else?? How do you know what kind of parent OP is?? Really?? Strippers & **** stars are bad people just because they're OK with nudity and their sexuality?? Really?? & who are you or any of us really to judge ANYONE?? No one is perfect- we ALL have flaws. This economy is hard right now and I'm glad OP isn't allowing her daughter to take metro where chances of her being mugged & raped are a LOT higher than picked up by mommy or daddy dearest. Is the job ideal? No. But it's a job & it's OP's responsibility to support & guide her so that she will respect the OP's words and advice when it really matters. Take a long look in the mirror before you take a stab at someone else.

At least she's got a job. My sister did it for a while. Not saying it's something I agree with, but I supported my sister's choice. Just stand by her; that's all you can do.

do you have pics of your daughter in her work outfit?? oh do share!

Are you all freakin retarted? So what if she works at a strip club. Doesn't mean she's a stripper and even if she was... She's 19. She's old enough to know what's good or bad. Guidance was when she was turning into a teen, not an adult.

Um, I'm in **** and it's really not that big a deal. It's so mainstream right now that all you vanilla folk need to just get over it. It's never going away. Actually, my mother helped out on a set with me yesterday, and it was really frickin' cool. Stop being so squeamish, it's just sex. However, she would probably be MUCH safer in the **** industry than dancing on stage. Just saying.
