Today, I finally got my wish of having snow on my birthday. Excited, I failed to realise this meant that no one could come to my party, including myself as we were all snowed out of town. What did I spend my 18th doing? Tidying our house. FML

At least you got your wish... Why are you not out playing in the snow?!

That's incredibly stupid. Why would you cease celebrating being alive? No matter how old you are, it's good to gather for your birthday. Only someone who doesn't enjoy being alive would feel that way.

Same thing happened at my 18 birthday. There was an icestorm that took down powerlines. We were without electricity for days, and some of my neighbors were not able to get there electricty for another week or two. So My mom, dad, and I ended up playing monopoly, then sleeping :) It was BORING. Just have double fun on your next bday

...and how much snow has UK gotten? One inch? Two inches?

It depends where you are in the UK. Some areas have had none. Where I live there has been about 4-5 inches (which is now just ice and so stupidily dangerous outside) up in Scotland, I have been told there is up to a foot. The problem is, that unless you live in a town centre, there isn't any way of getting out, no roads are gritted, the trains and buses are as good as cancelled. (Don't even get me started on the pavements) Where I live it was so dangerous to drive because of the tiny country roads that even one of the road gritters came off the road! It was beautiful irony.

In Norway, that's a very good day in the winter. I can agree that 12-18 inches are a lot, but seriously, 4 inches are nothing! I don't thing the schools here have ever closed due to snow, so man up..!

If it makes the OP feel better, my 18th was worse. I had a tarts and vicars party, but my mom blabbed to the mother of the creepiest brothers in my school. Guess who's party the ruined with their awkward stares and creepy conversations.

Well poor thing. Some 18 year old's have never even had a birthday party.
