for people saying stuff about "your parents raised u and its nice to give them a little back". BS! you didnt ask to come into this world. it was THEIR job to FEED you n CLOTHE you...its stupid to pay them back for something they got themselfs into.its another thing if it comes from you and it also depends on your job op

Suck it up. You're lucky they let you live there to begin with, and you should be grateful. They spent their time and hard-earned money raising you. Which, might I add, they DID NOT have to do. They could have just left you to rot and let some social worker take you away, or they could have given you up for adoption. But they decided to love you and take care of you all your life. It's the least you can do to help them out by paying a little extra.

If you're earning a salary, what are you doing at home? Besides freeloading off your parents, that is... get out! Why should they be supporting you?

Its also a cultural thing. Some people just aren't expected to leave their homes until they are married. Others, have understanding parents who want their kids to save money so they don't live in a shit hole. Independence is great and all - but sadly not all of us can afford it. should we contribute to expenses and bills? absolutely, if we have a job.

As long as you are paying what you rightfully owe, that is any expense incurred by you, then your parents are being complete assholes. **** this bullshit about paying them something back because they helped raise you. Raising a child is about giving them love and understanding and doing your best to make sure they turn into a decent human being. If you raise a child and are thinking of, somewhere down the line, asking them to pay you back for raising them, then do them a favour and just swallow a gun barrel right there and then because you're losing grip of what being a parent is really about and you're obviously not fit to be one.

I agree with #111. It's not about you owing them because they raised you, it's about parents deserving their freedom after a certain point. Young adults always want to move out and live their own lives, and parents have to let them when they're old enough. Why does nobody seem to understand that parents usually want their own lives just as much as young adults do? And why are parents automatically expected to raise their kids into adulthood? You're a damned adult. Get out of your parents house and let them walk around naked like they want to!
