Also, don't feel bad you had yours for 3 years because it's most common that anybody with a tapeworm won't show symptoms for up to 10 years when the worms are matured and breaking off segments or so large they're blocking part of the intestine and causing pain
Lastly, the crazy part about tapeworm cases in developed countries is that we have access to more than enough food, crave sugars/carbs/beer because of worms, eat more than normal and actually gain weight because the worms take all the nutrients & our bodies go in to slow metabolism survival mode
Good luck though! I know how unsettling it is. You should go back for a follow-up stool sample to make sure no eggs were left behind to restart the infection. Tapeworms can be very tricky :(
