My husband is the OP. The company he works for was bought out, and the decisions about layoffs were made by someone in a different state who has never met my husband or his co-workers. His co-worker who is keeping his job has been there 10+ years and is notorious for no-call/no-shows (sometimes up to 2 weeks straight) and does less work than anyone else there. My husband has been working there for 3 years and works his ass off. (Oh, and all the union stuff doesn't apply; there's no union for computer network analysts lol)

Well he's probably paid a lot less cuz he doesn't do work, so it makes sense economically for your former employers. Nothing's about quality or efficiency these days, just about saving money. It's dumb.
I've realized that an employee's ability to fit into the corporate hierarchy is usually far better rewarded than competent ones (competent employees usually manage to rock the boat, especially if their superiors are not). This knowledge was earned the hard way. Do not feel bad. You have merely discovered the truth about the corporate world. Learn from your mistakes.
yeah cause if he dont show up they dont pay him lol
Their loss
Makes sense, right?

Ouch. I'm sorry, OP. Find a better workplace! Good luck <3
Number 6, don't think of it as feeding unemployed assholes. Think of it as working for your country's right to actually have food.
