Having a baby at 16 is much different then having a baby at 13/14. Alot of growing up happens in those 2-3yrs. 16 is too young 13 is scary! He could have drilled into his son's head all the consequences of sex and all the precautions to have safe sex and it is still the choice of his son and partner to use what they have learned. Sorry OP going to be hard life for your son the baby and you.
That kid is a hero!
Yes, because 13-year-olds that fail to protect themselves are the role models this generation needs right now.
Considering your age in retrospect to your kid's age, you've got no room to FML about this.
That is a horrible assumption. The girl is 16 years old and she is perfectly capable of having a full-term baby.
Runs in the family. Teach your kid to learn from your mistakes...
He's 13 and the girl was 16... LOL. It's statutory rape, bro. Not the child's nor the father's fault.
Hey congratulations. Don't feel bad. You'll get to enjoy having grandkids more than most people do. There'll probably be a good deal of great grandchildren on the way too. And don't be ground down by the haters. Having kids young is more fun than modern society gives it credit for.
Gene does work. Predictably OP will be a great grandfather when he's 42...
Oh wow, people are so eager to hit YDI. Clearly OP is not happy about the situation and was hoping that his son wouldn't do the same "mistake" as he did. And 13 is clearly not an age where you'd think you should have already a sex talk. FYL OP, I hope these 2 kids are going to have enough common sense not to keep it.
People should be having the sex talk well before 13, especially from the father who knows about pregnancy first hand. How could he expect his son not to make the same mistake if he never spoke to him about it?
13 is definitely old enough for the sex talk!! Kids talk about sex in elementary school, do you really think they should be learning from other kids their age? Or from parents who can set their expectations for them when it comes to abstaining/safe sex
This would probably be the best option for everyone. I hope the girl seriously considers this.

You live by example!!
Now if your grandson gets a child, you'll have done what takes most a century to do, in less than half. Congrats, future great grandpa!
