Last time i checked, there's more than one phase in the world.
Don't judge OP for having his kid at 16 but not wanting the same for his child. He doesn't want his son to go through the same as he did, which isn't wrong at all. Just because it's the situation OP was in doesn't mean he can't be against it happening to others.
He could've known better than to let this happen, though. He was in the exact same situation, yet apparently didn't manage to teach his son to wear a condom. (Or not to have sex when only 13 years old, for that matter.)
So you've always obeyed what your parents said to do/ not do and always listened to advice. People make choices and sometimes they're the wrong ones. OP may feel he didn't want his son to have to grow up as rapidly as he did by having a kid so young. I truly feel for OP certainly a difficult situation to find yourself in.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree mate.
I'm sorry but this does strike me as a humungously big YDI. Where are your parenting skills? Why do you judge your son for doing the same that you did?
When I was 13 my parents were the dumbest people I knew. The sex talk didn't make me not want to have sex. Kids of any age are going to make decisions that go against what you teach them. You can't catch every last thing they do. You can only hope against hope that your life lessons stick and they do the right thing. Obviously OP's kid made a bad choice. That doesn't mean OP is a bad parent.
#433 thank you! I completely agree. we can't control everything they do. all we can do is hope they listen and put to use the lessons we teach them.
I was only 14 when I had sex the first time and I grew up in a well educated upper middle class family my father in the military both parents went to law school I was given the sex talk multiple times I'm very lucky I never got pregnant or got an std cause I was what you would call a **** and rarely used condoms but regardless of family background kids have sex
That is some gross statutory rape...
It's a cycle
13 and landed a 16 yeAr old? Well done! Just gotta face the consequences now!
Well done? Reverse the genders then tell me if it's still a situation that calls for a "well done".
Not gonna lie I was thinking it too. And if you reverse the genders it would be a well done so long as the younger is catching the older.

You live by example!!
Now if your grandson gets a child, you'll have done what takes most a century to do, in less than half. Congrats, future great grandpa!
