Today, I found out that my ferret, which my parents had told me ran away a few years ago, was actually given to my cousin while I was at a friend's house. My parents didn't want to deal with him anymore and gave him away for free. FML

Well, if your parents dealt with it, not you, then they have the right, I'd say. I had basically the same thing, I wanted a cat and my parents told me that I have to take care of it. They said that if I didn't, they'd take it away since it's not their responsibility. So yeah, I had to take care of my cat myself. In fact he still lives with me.
