Today, I found out that when you hit the neighbor's dog with your car, they might chase you a mile with a shotgun. FML

It sounds ridiculous, but idk, if somebody ran over my dog and I just happened to have a shotgun at the ready from my recent hunting trip I might be tempted to brandish that sucker. :)

Idk about you guys, but when I was taught to drive, I was told to be ready for anything. Though I have had more than a few children, dogs and assorted animals run in front of my car, I have only ever hit one. It was a raccoon that the car in front of me hit and though I slowed down, it literally ran right under my tires. I felt awful :/ Other than that, Im always on the lookout for animals and kids. You know, kids are also known to run out into the street, and had this been someone's kid, everybody would have been saying, "YDI for not paying attention!" Actually, in my online traffic school I took recently, it mentioned keeping your eyes open and watching for such events. Especially in a residential area... (Im assuming that if it was his neighbor's dog, it was a residential area, but that could be a bad assumption.)

SHIT STILL HAPPENS YOU SELF RIGHTEOUS ****

if you were being chased by a guy with a shotgun and you were in a vehicle, why didn't you just drive away?

At first I thought he was talking about the dog chasing him with the shotgun. You should be more clear next time. :)

If you ran after you hit the dog then you deserve it. But if you stopped and then the shotgun came out then fyl.

well, if they were chasing you with a shotgun, and you were already near your car, why not just get in your car and drive away? This FML sounds like you ran away on foot.

I'm pretty sure in the time it takes to get to the driver's door, open it, climb in, put the car in gear, and drive away, the shotgun wielding maniac could have shot him.
