How is that possible?
Don't they print the address on the bills where you live?
maybe you should pay some attention when you're paying bills?? hmm I don't know, that's just a thought.
Unless you have a heating source that isn't electric, or this happened between May and October, the electricity shouldn't have been shut off in MN. They have laws against that.
The exact same thing happened to me! The power company made a mistake and credited to a then empty house XP. We called them to correct it, and they did. Sadly we had to pay for them to correct THEIR mistake. Assholes. Luckly, we had a good while of not paying the bill since all our previous payments were turned into credit for their **** up :D. And for those asking, in my case they printed my current address on the bill. They still send it to the wrong house.
That sucks but it's probably your fault although there is a small chance the electric company made a mistake. Either way free electricity for whoever moved into your old place FTW!!!!
I feel your pain. Companies eff this stuff up all the time. I had a similar problem with my phone when I moved. The service went to my new house, but the bills went to the old one. The best part? I had internet and cable with the same company who provided my phone, and THOSE bills ended up in the right place. It was only the billing address on the phone that didn't get updated. Tell me, how does a company move a bundled service package to a new address, and only update two thirds of the billing information? End of rant, but the point is, FYL. Whether it was your mistake or theirs (and it was probably theirs), it still sucks for you.

How did you not know that the bill was going for your old house? YDI :/
At least the people in your old house got free electricity.
