Hey everyone, I'm the OP of this post. I didn't notice the smell for so long because the smell had started two weeks ago and only got worse everyday. I looked at my car and couldn't find the source. I sprayed it with febreze hoping that would make it go away. I'm a teenage girl, so I don't know much about cars so I figured it was just something in the hood. When I finally found the chicken, it had been under the backseat the whole time. My sister is actually only 9. I took her shopping with me and she offered to bring in all the bags. I guess I can't blame her though, because the chicken had been hiding. I told her about it and we laughed it off. My car smells fine now. Thanks for all the comments!

You are amazing because I could not deal with a stench for two weeks. No more chicken invited in your car again, lol.
I was expecting your sister to be a teen
My sister is 9 as well OP, and I too am a teenage girl that drives. I could see my sister doing something like that too. Glad you guys could laugh it off!
I'm a little concerned that you thought it may be coming from under the hood and you didn't have your parents or someone check it out. Teenage girl or not.
You're not bad with cars because your a teen or a girl. You're just bad. Own up to your own ignorance instead of blaming it on sexist gender roles.
I'm sorry if you think that you have better things to do as a teenage girl than get you car looked at for something you think may be under the hood, then you should not own your own car. I wouldn't leave my parents alone until they checked it out or I would put the responsibility into my own hands and take it to the dealership. sure you had a minor problem but if something was actually wrong and your excuse is "I had better things to do" then you definatly deserve anything that happens to your car
#61 you don't even know what I mean by better things to do so don't tell me I deserve to have something bad happened to my car. I just got that car so figured a rotten smell wouldn't be anything too bad. Like I said, I told my dad (who is a mechanic) and he just told me to tell him if it gets worse. So I trusted him enough to just keep driving the car.
You all need to give her a break. I know that at 16 I had better things to do than worry about a lot of stuff. A car gives off a funky smell, you tell your parents, if they think it's fine, you believe them. I'd have believed my parents and waited for their opinion than taking it to a dealership where I get charged. I don't believe OP did anything wrong, especially if her dad knows about cars. So lay off.
y'all need to stop being rude. there is a huge difference between rotten food smells and a defective car smell. she told her parents and clearly they thought it was safe enough. if you're not in he situation... shut the hell up and just say you're glad she found the nasty smell.
Nope. Still bad with cars, regardless of age or gender.
And that statement is based on sexism. You could just as easily have said that you don't know much about cars instead of dragging the gender stereotypes into the discussion and then getting defensive when others call you out on it.
#82 well if you watch tv you can see that every mechanic is a guy on every show or movie you watch. And I'm pretty sure you don't know any girls who are car experts so don't even try to make me feel bad. This isn't even about gender roles. I'm simply stating that ever since the day I was born I have NEVER met another girl under the age of 18 that knew a lot about cars.
How could you have more important things to do? Assuming that it had been coming from the car, especially under the hood: Which is more important your makeup/friends/homework/boyfriend/etc... or your life. something like that could easily be causing catastrophic damage. I'm actually glad that it was just a rotting chicken, and not something worse.
people just get too easily butt hurt now a days about sexism op don't worry about it. and ya most mechanics are guys and to be honest guys are most into cars when they're teen unlike girls who have their own interests and sure this doesn't apply to everyone but stereotypes hold some validity they're not just pulled out of thin air. plus she told her dad so she did take responsibility into making sure it was okay even if she didn't lift the hood herself .
this must stink for you
Chicken on the GO
Well, instead of Kentucky Fried Chicken, you got Connecticut Raw Chicken.
Shouldn't you have noticed that a raw chicken you bought at the supermarket wasn't in your fridge?
It took you that long to investigate?
This happened to me one time when visiting a family member in the hospital. The blood they leave in the chicken leaked out and got cooked into the car's carpet thanks to the Sun so it smelt that way for months. Had to keep a puke bag in there and spend time adjusting just to not make it worse.
Happened to me as well, ended up with maggots in it, I live in Florida so the smell lasted for months!!

I would've suspected fowl play within the first week!
I'm glad you didn't get onto your sister about it. She is just 9, and trying to help. I wish more kids were that helpful.
