This sounds just like "my fake fiance" the movie. They spent their daughter's wedding money on landscaping. Then offered to pay for her wedding with money from the fund they were saving for their grandchildren's college.

In England you don't pay anything like the full amount. It is not free but everyone apart from foreign students is at least partially subsidized.

Haha that really does suck. That's why I'm glad I live in Scotland where we get our tuition fees paid for by the government provided we go to a Scottish university and everyone is entitled to between something like £600-£3000 extra a year on top of that depending on their circumstances! No student debt for me!

If it was an actual college fund (legally, that is), then you have legal rights. Your parents couldn't use the money for anything besides college (again, assuming that it's an educational trust fund), and thus they couldn't pay for the landscaping. You can get your money back (but I doubt that your parents would like it).

happened to me. so now i'm going to community college and am more determined than ever to get good grades. financial aid's helping me though.. and i'm working 3 jobs.. but it'll all be worth it when i transfer =)

I can top that. I was the first born child, and my dad was pretty disapointed that I was a girl, but started me a college fund anyway Then my brother was born. ANd he took my college fund away from me and gave it to my brother. So now Im fighting through community college and my brother is totally set, but the thing is , he isn't very smart

get a ******* job and pay for it yourself. that's what student loans are for.
