A freak out for all to bee

By death to bees - 13/04/2025 03:00 - United States - New York

Today, a bee buzzed towards me, so I screamed and started frantically flailing and thrashing my arms, praying it wouldn't sting me. I threw my full cup of hot coffee in the face of the man next to me, and launched my laptop out of its bag and onto the pavement, where it broke in half. FML

bees are chill unless you provoke them. I let them land on me whenever they're near and have never been stung for that. they sniff around for a min and then buzz away nicely.

Bees are cool; Wasps are b*****; know the difference, and doesnt cost a laptop

That was stupid. Bees and wasps are way more likely to react to you as a threat if you kick off like that. You are literally inviting them to sting you. Staying calm, ignoring them and *very gently* shooing them away from your food and drink is the way. Even if you are allergic to stings, this is the way.

If it was a bee, then you overreacted. If it was a wasp, then you under reacted.

Bees don't sting unless you attack them. Wasps might, but even they are far more likely to do so when you attack. Arms flailing counts as an attack in bee/wasp world.

I tend to run the other way if a bee or wasp comes at me because I'm terrified of them, but I don't think I'd ever break a laptop or toss a beverage over it due to frantic movements.
