Today, I found out why my parents have been trying to convince me not to go to college this year. I also found out where the $20,000 they just spent on landscaping came from. My college fund. Which is now $0. FML

What is with all these parents using up their kid's college fund or hiding college acceptance letters?? FYL & try a scholarship.

Oh, yes, because it's that easy, especially when your parents JUST SPENT YOUR COLLEGE FUND.

Was the college fund in your name as well as theirs, or just theirs? Because if it was in your name as well, you may be able to take legal action.

Make them pay, or something, somehow. Force them to pay it all back to you. If worse comes to worse, get a loan

I don't have a college fund, though I thought my whole life that I did.

Was the money yours or something they were giving you? If it was yours, FYL. If it was money they were putting aside for you, then they can really do with it what they want, it's their money. Yes it sucks for you, but it's not a FYL.

and pommeblossome wins for a relative FML in response to an FML toh-gah toh-gah toh-gah! go uni!!!

Well, your parents sure are selfish )=

Well, parents aren't obligated to pay for college (mine sure aren't), but OP, if you were under the impression you'd be taken care of, your parents should have told you sooner so that you would at least have had time to apply for scholarships and student loans. Look at this as some time to take a year off and "find yourself", and maybe apply for scholarships and loans for next year. If I can do it on my own, so can you.

Unfortunate that somebody trying to get to college is saddled with suck dumbfuck parents.
