Sounds like my old boss. I asked for a raise after nearly 3 years of being there...he said it wouldn't be much because "it was a franchise store & not a corporate store"...I got a 47¢ raise. I found his pay slip later that day on the floor & I realized that he'd been getting a $100.00 raise every year from the owner for the 9 years he'd been there...meanwhile, my boss had taught me nearly everything he knows & had given me 3/4 of HIS job tasks so he could go onto the sales floor for 4 hours a day to "shoot the breeze" with the sales people....we both worked in the warehouse...glad to know I could help him get paid for screwing around on company time. I quit over a year ago though & he was mad he had to do ALL of his job by himself, but told me "if you ever want to come back, we'll hire you immediately!" I moved all the way across the US so I'd never be tempted to reapply.
you're a temp. That's how things work. be grateful you have a job.

It costs a lot more than just salary to keep a full time employee. If 10 employees who get paid $50k salary got $10k each as a bonus, not giving them bonuses would be just about enough money to hire one more full time person with benefits. But doing that pisses off 10 employees by screwing them out of a bonus, and only makes one employee happy to be on full time. The way they opt to do it, one temp is pissed off and 10 employees are chuffed with the extra cash. Know what chuffed employees do? Work harder and perform better. It's just Socioeconomics.
Now you know the truth: They can afford to hire you full-time, they just don't want to. Merry Christmas!!
