Today, I gave my wife a $900 necklace as a special Christmas gift. She gave me a set of Star Wars pajamas. As it turns out, I was more excited to wear my gift than she was to wear hers. FML

Today, my wife ruined the gift I got for our 10 year anniversary by opening a package that was clearly addressed to me, finding the custom made necklace, and started wearing it straight away. I didn’t even know it had been delivered yet and boom, right there on her neck two weeks early. FML

Today, because it was our first Christmas as a couple, I was careful to get my girlfriend what I considered to be a very thoughtful gift. She opened it, took one look at it, made a face like I'd just kicked a puppy, and told me that in future it would be better if I just gave her money so she could buy her own presents. FML

Today, I got a gift from my wife. It was a beautiful watch. The same exact watch I'd sold to our local jewelers for 6k. She bought it for 10k. When I told her, she said, "Hmmm, I thought it looked familiar." There goes 4K from our joint account. I could’ve thought of 4000 ways to spend that money. FML

TBH I would not be excited about wearing $900 either. That's a lot of money wasted if it's lost or broken. Also, I think it's more exciting to go pick out jewelry together than have him just show up with something he hopes I like. I think most jewelry is a joke, so chances are anything someone else picks out for me would be something that is hideous or looks like costume jewelry.

I could never use a 900.00 piece of jewelry. I work in Downtown Dallas and I would be a target for thieves. You would have come out better buying a jewelry set for 300.00(still expensive) and handing her the other 600.00 to go shopping.

It almost sounds like your wife knows you better than you know your wife, though I'll admit that some people are just hard to shop for/please. If in doubt, have her pick something out herself.
