Today, I googled for an hour how to open my CD player on my laptop. Turns out, there is none. They just put a space there to make it look like a CD player. FML

I did the same thing, OP. It wasn't overly important to me when looking for a new laptop, so I didn't even think to check the specs.

If you haven't done much with the laptop you can still return it if it was a super recent purchase. Another option would be to buy an external optical drive. It takes up a usb slot but it may be worth it.

Did you try putting the cd in the slot on my MacBook there is a slot where you just slide the disc in no way to open or close it

How do you buy a laptop without checking its specs before? I mean you could've actually bought a camouflaged potato and you wouldn't know... Next time just do a little reading or ask staff in the shop for more info. Or just find the full name - model of the device you own/want to buy and google it. :)
