That idiot probably has a Tumblr. My parents decided not to find out until I was born, too. They wanted it to be a surprise. (Plus, since Murphy's Law continually screws us over, they probably would have been told I was a boy and then found out the hard way that I'm a girl. So you don't have to deal with that.)
Ignore the Tumblr comment on my last comment. I was thinking of something else, and my goddamn ******* piece of shit iPad won't let me edit it.
You PC, bro?
well it is sex, not gender...since the child is responsible for gender expression
@86. You, right now, are being the ridiculous person that OP was mistaken for. We all know she means biological sex: most people use the terms gender and sex interchangeable, including transgendered individuals. Why on earth you felt compelled to correct OP when her meaning was not in doubt is beyond comprehension.
This was clearly a misunderstanding. I'm sure what the woman thought you meant was that you wanted to let the child decide its own gender.
Regardless of what Op meant, the lady had no business telling her that or giving her "opinion."
The correct word to use would be sex. You don't want to know the sex of the baby until it's born. There is a difference
@92, you are being pedantic. Yes, there is a difference. But using those two terms interchangeably is extremely common usage, and correcting OP like that is just being silly. This is the sort of thing that provokes accusations of being *ahem* a "politically correct loser."
That's not political correctness that's just wanting a surprise.
My sister in law did that with her 3 kids. She refused to tell the names they picked out either if it was a boy or girl. Took forever to post the birth announcements...etc That is all fine cause it's their life, but whenever someone in the family was pregnant; the first thing out of their mouths: do you know if it's a boy or girl?? What is their name?? But yet, never wanted to share that same info with their own kids.
didn't know that had anything to do with politics
