Today, I got called a "politically correct loser" by a woman at the supermarket, all because I said I didn't want to find out the gender of my baby until birth. FML

That's ok. some people don't know the gender of their baby until they are older and the kid decides for themselves -_-

I don't get why people don't like political correctness. If you can explain why, please reply to this comment.

Because treating other people respectfully is hard.

Because it's disingenuous. Forcing people to act and say things other than they mean. Some people are dicks. No reason to hide behind fake respect. Plus some people get butthurt over non-pc comments that are said without malice and instead of accepting it as opinion, they decide it as disrespectful or bigotry.

no one is forcing anyone to do anything, it's really not hard to not be an asshole and respect others lol.

You obviously have a working filter between your brain and your mouth. Trust me, for the rest of us who find it difficult to do this, it's hard. I'm constantly going over what I'm about to say in my head so I don't insult anyone, and as a result, I lose the timing to say it in the first place. This makes others think I'm slow, or just don't have an opinion. I've finally just given up and mostly don't take part in conversations. PC is overrated, and people are too touchy, always looking for an excuse to get mad at someone.

Because a lot of entertaining things get taken down/canceled because some whiny crybaby got offended and it isn't PC

Really, when it comes to being 'politically correct' some things do go overboard, but not everything. And most people I know who can get hurt by comments like that are fine if you explain you didn't mean it maliciously. Thought there ARE people who will jump down your throat for any reason as well, there's extremists in everything.

Because some people don't like that they're free to be a flaming bag of dicks, but others are equally free to dislike them for it, and need an excuse to blame them for being upset/disgusted.

Sometimes people are overly politically correct about words and spend more time worrying what's the "right" word for something than actually being decent (ex. quibbling over saying "black" instead of "African American") but most of the time when people complain about political correctness, it's because they just said something gross and somebody else told them so.

What a dumb mole. People like that should be neutered.

So what? Why are you even caring about the opinion of some douche at the grocery store? YDI for thinking about this for longer than like three seconds. Your insecurity is kinda sad.

'well, you took it. And that's - Well, I guess that's somethin'.

This is so stupid. You would want to find out the SEX of your baby, not the gender. Sex identifies the organs a person has. Male or Female. A GENDER is what a person identifies as. I could be Female, but identify as a male. There are many different combinations. So she called you a politically correct idiot because she thought you were referring to gender. However that is also stupid because children don't have the mental capacity or ability to identify as different genders. So you were wrong for saying gender and she was wrong for thinking gender. My advice, don't talk about things you have no knowledge of. Have a good day!

Oh shush. A lot of people, especially until recently, use gender as a less "harsh"/or scientific way to say sex.

Also screw people who pull you up for being "politically correct", just a lame way of making fun of you for respecting other people.

Talk about not understanding the words she uses to me it shows you sure sign that you're happy just having a healthy baby
