Today, I got laid off from work. I was being escorted to the elevator when another coworker stepped inside. He said, "How goes it?" I said, "It goes." Then he said, "At least we have a job." FML

Today, I stopped to talk to a depressed-looking coworker in the elevator. I tried to cheer him up by saying, "At least we still have a job, right?" Turns out he just got laid off. FML

Today, I was having another hard day at work. I stepped in an elevator to go to lunch, when another co-worker stepped in. I asked him,"How goes it?" He answered,"It goes." I tried to be nice, telling him that at least we had jobs. He told me he was laid off. FML

When all your stuff is gone and so are you hes going to realize what he said. But you know he could have known, were there "office rumors" that someone was going to get fired? Maybe hes an asshole and has always secretly hated you? Word gets around fast you have to wonder. And plus you say you were being escorted out, he didn't think that was odd? Didn't you have your stuff with you? Either he knew and hes an asshole or he didn't and he was trying to cheer you up.

We'll be expecting a FML from him tomorrow when he finds out you were laid off.

You were escorted to the elevator after being laid off? I find that really unlikely. They only escort out people they fire, not lay off.

i think this is a joke form some comedian pasted right from wikipedia notice how it starts off "i got laid off from work today..." (paused for laughter) (give rest of story) i fail to believe this

who the hell seys "how goes it"??? haha u shouldve slapped him

#27, in many places they escort EVERYONE out. Whether you were "fired" or "laid off" doesn't make a whole lot of difference -- either way, you're still out a job, and just as likely (from the employer's POV) to try to sabotage/steal something. Sometimes they don't even let you get your stuff; they will box it up for you and you have to come pick it up at a later date.
