Do you really think that they intended to let you go, but had to wait for two years, because nobody else could possibly do your job as good as you?
Sorry to be harsh, but I get the feeling they were only being nice to keep you on for those 2 years. Maybe it's time for some self reflection.
Thing is, if OP was horrible or doing the job wrong, why did they let him train his eventual replacement?
Maybe it's not their work, but their attitude?
