Today, I got the best grade in class on my economics midterm. Rather than tell me I did a good job, my professor criticized me in front of everyone about how I was working "too hard". FML
I agree, your life sucks 42 860
You deserved it 4 715

Same thing different taste

And that is the reason why I'll never understand the way school works. P.S., He's probably jealous because he couldn't get those grades himself. Keep it up OP :)

What a jerk, can't accept an over achiever when he sees one ;-)

Dont let him make u feel down! My math teacher thinks I'm full of myself because im getting good grades and ask smart questions, but thats not stopping me for sure.

I can see how this is intimacy. Obviously she got the best grades, because she wants to be closer to her teacher, but her teacher has other plans.

You're supposed to be striving for mediocrity! That's the agenda. They want another conformist taxpayer, not a rebellious intellectual.

I think you should complain. There is a point where people might work too hard and it might endanger their health but there is a way to deal with that that is sitting them down and having a conversation - not the way he did it. He needs to change his teaching style - especially if the only way to get a good grade is by working your socks off. You might want to complain about his humiliating and bullying behaviour because that is awful. Take care OP

Don't listen! Econ is hard, too. Be proud!

I took Latin and on the holiday before our public exams, my teacher told us all that we worked very hard and to spent a minimum of half the holidays not working because otherwise we would burn out before the exams. Getting a good work life balance is important but you should NOT be criticised for being hardworking.

Some people use "you're working too hard" as a compliment. Do you think the guys on the Commodities Trading floor or at Goldman Sachs are sincerely congratulatory? No. Econ is a competitive man's world. You just got a competitive man's compliment.

Idk, I personally wouldn't take "you're working too hard" as a compliment. Maybe I would take "you're working hard" or "you're working very hard", but I think I'd take "you're working too hard "as "you're doing too much, stop with that crap". But that's just me. I don't know how the Econ world works.

Take a joke op, he was being a sarcastic douche

And you would think teachers would want their students to succeed...what a disgrace of a teacher. OP, you're not working too hard, you're being an awesome student! Congrats! Keep up the good work!

who needs him, keep up the hard work op
