Today, I had a very long, complicated talk with my girlfriend. Apparently, since she isn't religious, she doesn't have to give anyone Christmas presents, and yet expects everyone to give her some. She then told me what I should get her. FML

She sounds like a really selfish girlfriend. Honestly, even if she is your girlfriend, she is also being terribly unreasonable. If she chooses not to be religious just because she wants to take and not give then that's her choice. But you also have a choice of whether or not you want to give. Christmas should be a time to spend with your loved ones, not a holiday for people to give her free gifts. She seems quite materialistic.

Tell her you're 'respecting her religion' and buy yourself something (or agree and don't get her anything if you aren't religious either, but that seems unlikely given the FML)

Tell her you don't see her point. Christmas is a Pagan festival (it actually is, it's the celebration of the Winter Solstice) but the Christians still give presents to people anyway (the present is probably the only remaining pagan thing about Christmas tbh...)

Uhhh, Christmas trees are pagan - ask the Brotherhood of Blackheads and every single German that ever lived. Almost everything about the holiday itself is pagan. Christians kind of hijacked the celebration, moved the day to the 25th to take some of the attention off of those mean heathen pagans, and touted it as the feast of the nativity. No one even knows for sure if December 25th is really Jesus' birthday.

oh yeah I forgot about the trees. And yeah I was trying to get at the fact the Christian's hijacked it :L. All Christian festivals are Pagan (well... most of them). Easter and Halloween are pagan too...

December 25 used to be the solstice, the calendar was moved by 4 days in 400AD but they kept the date of Christmas the same.

#249. Yeah that's right. I do believe that it also used to tie in with the Celtic new year. In Scotland we have our new year celebration on both the last day of December and on the 10th (I think it's then anyway) of January. I should really know this as a Historian who has studied the Celts; but I think that the Winter Solstace used to mark the start of the Celtic year, so Christmas has REALLY lost it's meaning over the years :L.

Girls come in shapes and sizes and I think your girlfriend is the type that uses her boyfriend to get what she want , well you can do two things either to keep that at the back of your head all the time or dump her and the choice is yours
