Today, I had my college graduation ceremony. As I was walking across the stage, some asshat, in front of over 55,000 students and staff, brazenly ran across the stage, snatched my diploma up out of the president's hand, and ran off. FML

That guy has now officially graduated from asshat to uberdouche. Congrats on graduating, OP! Get your degree back and hit the guy in the head with it. Good use of your diploma ;D

A paper cut would be a better idea. Give the asshat a paper cut OP! Those hurt as much as stepping on lego.

"while you're at it, why don't you give me a paper cut and pour lemon juice on it" oh The Princess Bride... (sorry, the comment reminded me of this quote)

I hope he didn't get that far

At least you can get a new copy, right? I'm no college graduate, but I doubt they can't ever get you a replacement.

The real diplomas aren't in there. It's usually just a blank piece of paper. The real ones come in the mail about 4 months later in a big tube. :) I'm sure they would hand OP a new "diploma"

Actually, I'm pretty sure that op would have to take college again... You snooze you lose.

Well at least now you have a funny story to tell your kids someday!

Wow, you're popular :) My graduation ceremony was in a room with a few professors, 5 students and their family.

Surely someone out of those 55,000 was able to trip or catch him/her?

Most of the time they don't put the actual diploma in the binder they give to you on stage. So, OP, you will still get your diploma and now you have a great story to go with it. Immediate loss = a lifetime of winning.

I never understood the point of that. What a waste of time, just give the actual diplomas at the ceremony.

They have to make sure you've actually earned it first. Usually graduation is immediately after Finals Week, and your final grades haven't been turned in yet. If you fail a class you needed to graduate, you haven't earned your diploma.

my graduation ceremony was six months after my final hand in date. and we didn't get our degrees on stage, we had to shake hands with the chancellor of the university and then get our degrees offstage. it wasn't even particularly nice, just a piece of A4 paper in a red binder. but then again, my uni was shit.
