Once, a relative had nasty cigarette breath, and had a conversation with me. I politely offered my Altoids. He took one, and I said he could have the entire case. But unless you carry body spray on you at all times, this was useless. :/
Nothing like the smell of bad tacos.
Be a good person and politely let him know in private that he has BO. That's like letting some one run around with a giant booger in there nose all day.
Pretty sure if his BO was that strong, he'd probably already know and just doesn't care. A kid I knew in school was like that. He even said "I know I smell bad, so no need to keep telling me." He admitted to having showers only on Wednesdays. Some people just don't care about hygiene unfortunately.
You never know unless you ask :/. Besides some of those people need some one to acknowledgement that they stink, it's like a kid in the butt. But you do make a valid point.
That's true, sometimes people do need a heads up. But then again I understand why people don't usually tell people these things, especially if they aren't close friends. There are some people who are extremely sensitive and might take offence. And what if it's a condition? Might make for an awkward situation. Some people just try to avoid those kinda things. But I see what you're saying. I always appreciate when someone tells me there's something on my face.
I knew someone that had a medical condition. She would shower three times a day, and would still smell like BO. Maybe the coworker has an issue like that. Maybe talk to your coworker, even if it is a hard discussion.
I had a roommate with that problem. He'd shower three to four times a day and still smell nasty as all hell.
I'm probably gonna get a shit load of thumbs down for this, but I can't help myself... 'Murica.
You'll deserve it because in America, we have a lot less tolerance for body odor than most parts of the world, including Europe. I've heard the Japanese are on our level of bathing habits, but most of the rest of the world is far behind. You might have gotten thumbs-up for 'Rance or 'Ndia.
And how many other countries have you experienced in your vast 18 years? Perdix is absolutely right. Americans are some of the cleanest-smelling people I've ever met.
Well, that doesn't really prove much. But since you're already assumed that I haven't done much in my "vast" 18 years, I'll just let you think what you want. I wasn't saying that all Americans were stinky, I just have met a lot who don't know how to take care of themselves. But I also know, that there's another country nearby that lacks hygiene but I won't say where it is exactly because obviously there's some ultra-sensitive people on FML who takes comments entirely too seriously.
I got a coworker who doesn't have good plumbing in his house so he never showers. It's the worst smell on the planet. I feel your pain OP..
Me too. I also "had" (recently fired) a coworker that would come to work and his uniform always smelt like male cat urine-- marking his territory. :P I spoke up and said something to him but it never got better.
60% of the time, it works every time.
Tell your manager, who gets the big bucks for dealing with awkward problems like this.

Give him deodorant in a gift bag and put it on his desk
Then you can taste it. I think that's worse..
