Today, I had to find simple words to explain to the idiot I was tutoring that "1/4" is not of a greater value than "1/3" just because the denominator is bigger. FML

You don't sound like you're cut out to be a tutor. Don't call him an idiot, you are supposed to be helping him. Some people aren't good at math and fractions can be tough for some people.
