Today, I had to get bloodwork done. I'm deathly afraid of needles. The whole lobby heard me scream as soon as the nurse said 'hello'. FML

Today, I tried to get over my childhood phobia of syringes by donating blood. The phlebotomist hadn't even touched the needle before I started sobbing hysterically. They made me leave. FML

Today, I went for bloodwork. It's routine for me, so I was ready for the nurse to put in the needle and take my blood. It went in fine, but right after, she slowly pulled the needle out, then wondered why the blood stopped. She then moved it back and forth in my arm while I panicked silently. FML

Today, I needed to get blood drawn. Apparently, my veins are too thin and no blood would flow into the tube. I'm afraid of needles, and was just poked with some unsuccessfully, and I have to go back next week to try again. FML

Panic!

Today, I was at the doctor and I had to get a fingerstick in the lab to get blood drawn. There was a 6 year-old boy waiting to go next. He was terrified. His mother told him to, "Watch this brave girl go first." I panicked and began to hyperventilate. The kid fainted. FML

Today, I decided to give blood for the second time. I felt excrutiating pain when she stuck the needle in my arm. Another nurse came running over in a panic. Apparently my inexperienced nurse had put it in my tendon instead of my vein. FML

Today, I went to the dentist to get a cavity filled. As the dentist was drilling, he accidentally hit a nerve and I ended up screaming in pain. The whole office heard me and now I'm too embarrassed to go back. FML

Today, I got my annual blood test. The nurse was inexperienced and it took her several tries to insert the needle properly. When I get back home, my fiancé starts yelling at me and storms out. The reason? I am a recovering drug addict and my arm appeared as if I had been shooting up. FML

lol the nurse probably thinks she is ugly or something, and you screamed when you saw her hahaha.....Today, at work as a nurse, a patient screamed as soon as they saw me when i walked into the room. FML.

No worries, when I had to get a blood test, I had a panic attack, fainted and had to be carried out of the hospital. I still have to go back to get the test done.

if the nurse would stick the ******* needle in the right place and not push it in too far, maybe I wouldn't hate getting shots so much.

Well this FML is about getting blood drawn, not getting shots. But either way, I'm pretty sure that nurses usually do it right, and you just can't handle it like most people can.

I hope you get into a situation where a needle will save your life. People that are scared of needles clearly have never been in a position that says 'get stuck by this 12" long needle or die' and need to shut the **** up considering I know plenty of four year olds that don't even blink when a doctor draws blood.

I am not really that afraid of the needles themselves, its the fact that I faint practically every time i give blood, draw blood or get shots. Even when I go in brave and thunk everything will be fine...I faint. So goody goody for the 4 year olds. I'm 39 and this still happens to me. Sorry everyone isnt perfect like you think you are

its something you will have to deal with. i was afraid of needles too, until i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. (insulin dependent) you get over it quick when your other option is death. don't get me wrong. i still HATE needles. but now i don't fear them.
