Today, I had to write a huge lab for my physics class. It's worth my entire quarter grade and I use a program on a CD for graphing. My mom thought it was a computer game and hid the CD. She can't find it. The lab's due tomorrow. FML

Or worse is when the parents tell you to get off the computer and ban/kick you off/unplug the computer because they think you're on games when actually you're on an educational website.

I have officially decided that everyone saying the OP deserves it for being a procrastinating moron/dipshit/insult of choice AFTER the OP posted saying he had everything done except the graphs is possibly too stupid to breathe. (That means anyone from comment #45 on.) Seriously, don't people read the comments to see if there are explanations further than what can be fit in the rather limited space? I guess not, given all the idiots so quick to assume that because the project is due on an unknown 'tomorrow' (given that it may have been tomorrow from when this FML was written, not from when it was posted) that the OP is just a procrastinator and deserves it. After all, we all know that people who are about to fail something due the next day because someone took something important of theirs was just waiting until the last minute to do it. (That was sarcasm, just so you numbwits know.) That said, OP, I hope you found a way to do your graphs. Not your fault your mom can't be assed to make sure the CD she stole was actually a game.

Something sounds off about this one, if this CD was given to you by the university/college/school then wouldn't it also be their computers. Also if you had it on CD and have used it previously, wouldn't it be installed, I can't believe a graphing program would require the CD to actually load. If it's software that actually requires licenses then I am guessing it wasn't supplied software but the university/college/school should still be supplying such software on their own computer systems to allow you to be able to do your project.

Ok, CDs with textbooks are one thing, but CDs bound to textbook serial numbers is another. All that'll be done is a factory makes about 1,000 CDs, these will then be stuck inside 1,000 text books... etc. The idea that CDs would be matched to a specific textbook doesn't make sense. To actually go for a system that specifically does it would cost more then it'd ever be worth. Even Microsoft don't do that, windows the biggest software package in the world usually only has like 3~4 license types per release... As for universities that do not supply computers, even in there libraries. Even small colleges can do that, there is no way I can not believe a university can not do it. And as for universities/colleges supplying $350 textbooks, just don't believe that one at all. I mean how many textbooks do they supply a year... I can't see a single textbook being the course material, Also if they get off that far into expenses then the profit line will get smaller, also if the CD comes with the textbook most people would probably keep the CD with the book. But again, if it's an installation CD I can't see it being a case of requiring the CD to use each time.

Many textbooks that come with CDs have a serial code printed on the inside of the text book. Once that serial code is used it can never be used again because it logs with the textbook's database online and prevents future use. I had this on most of my books last semester.

Universities don't PROVIDE textbooks. You buy your textbooks, however expensive they are. It's ridiculous, but you have no other choice.

No problem. Just hand in a stack of black sheets of paper and say it's a report on Dark Matter. YOu might get an 'A' and a Noble Prize.

If this is a real situation, then YDI for: a) waiting until the day before to work on an assignment/lab worth your entire quarter grade. b) not putting this important CD someplace safe, such as up your own mangina. c) still living at home with a mom who hides your games. d) posting this FML hoping to get sympathy.

YDI for waiting until the last minute to write it.

So you waited until the very last night to write the paper worth your whole grade. Hmm, let me guess, you were playing computer games instead?

He didn't say he waited until the last minute. He could have been working on it all quarter for all we know. When will you people learn that on this site, everything HAS to start with "Today....."? That doesn't mean it was ACTUALLY today! Keep up people!!

Yes but that doesn't mean he did all the work in one day. It might have been finished awhile ago and he was looking for the CD today since he has to turn it in tomorrow. Plus, he said "I had to write a huge lab", not "I HAVE to write a huge lab", which leans more towards it already being done. I'm just saying - nowhere does it say in this FML that he waited until the last minute.

YDI...its due tomorrow and you are not just starting to work on it? WOW, way to RUIN your physics grade hahahaha

Hey, jackass, on FML, it is required that all posts start with "Today,". He could have been working on it for a while.
