Well, some people are shy to actually tell their partner exactly what they want them to do. They really hope that somehow this person would magically figure it out for themselves. Experimentation sounds like fun, but as any scientist knows, if you are really going to do bold work, you have to anticipate that some experiments will go horribly wrong. This is not an option for the marital bed. It would not merely be a notebook entry: "Experiment with Cleveland Steamer -- FAIL." The consequences would persist for months or years.
