Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my family for the first time. My mother's immediate reaction was, "We didn't know you were gay!" No mom, she really is a girl. FML

Whether or not she was joking, your poor girlfriend was put in a really awkward situation. FYL and hers

Ouch. I hope your girlfriend stays long enough to see an apology from your mum.

She may realize the gender of your gf but perhaps is commenting on your gf's masculine features.

Still is a pretty rude thing to say. EDIT: This is my 800th comment :D lol

I really hope your girlfriend doesn't look like man OP. But from what your mom said, I can't help but think that.

That is terrible. It is already nerve racking and stressful to meet parents and leave a good impression. Your poor girlfriend didn't even get a chance!

I can see what type of SOLE you have... Aha get it? *ducks*

Ouch. I hope for you and your girlfriend sake that she really doesn't look like a male. An old friend of mine settled for this unattractive chick who has some more masculine features and it's not a pretty sight.

Wow, because it's considered 'settling' to not fall in love with someone who is conventionally attractive? Maybe your friend just has more common sense to know that eventually everyone will get old and most likely look like shit, and it's better to be with someone you actually get along with, than whether society thinks they're pretty or not.

Go him for not judging her on her looks. That's not what it's about. You don't know if he settled, maybe he actually loves her. Hard to believe because she's ugly right? Gosh, people these days

'It's not a pretty sight' is something I would say if someone got severely burnt or got a bad hairdo. A couple with a manly looking female isn't 'not a pretty sight', you just feel uncomfortable around them. Not like you have a decent reason though. Nothing wrong with... well, not being the barbie doll duckface society seems to want to shape us into nowadays.

Sounds like your pretty.. Shallow

Aw I'm sorry! I've been called a boy when I was younger, I jus went along with it lol

I get called "ma'am" at the drive thru or over the telephone often. I have one of those mid-range voices that doesn't make it readily apparent whether one is speaking to a man or woman without visual clues. Put it alongside my polite demeanor and most people default to "ma'am". On rough days when I'm curt and not exactly friendly people always get it right and say "sir". Que cera cera.

From what I can tell, OP is a pretty remarkable guy for looking beyond a girl's looks and loving her personality. He's gonna get a lot of girls that way.

The simpler explanation is that OP couldn't get anyone more feminine.
