Today, I jokingly asked my boyfriend to marry me, because it's a leap year. He is now avoiding me for fear that I was serious. FML

That would be awesome to only have to remember your anniversary every 4 years

So if he isn't your ex by now, have you learnt how 'joking' about lifelong commitments can affect your relationship? Or for April fools are you going to be pregnant?

Sorry, but YDI. That's serious stuff you shouldn't joke about

Maybe it was just bad timing what if he really was planning on proposing and by cracking a joke about the subject now hes probably like "oh ok so obviously this is funny" and probably re evaluating the relationship and refunding the ring...

Those who asked how long we have been together, it's been three years :) We have spoken loads about our future together, but neither of us really see the point in marriage anyway, so it was very much a joke. In Scotland (where I am from) it is apparently the only day a girl can ask a guy to marry her. Oh and by avoiding me, I mean he hid under his bed in faux fear!
