Today, I learned that my mom's laptop was originally my Christmas gift. She opened it and decided she liked it so much she should have it. I got hot rollers. FML

Wow. Christmas is about giving. Not being selfish. FYL for having a mom that isn't generous to her kids.

You have Christmas in July? I thought that was just an excuse some stores made up to have sales during a slow patch. Your mom did you a favor: With the laptop, you'd have devolved into a house-bound geek who might have a Facebook-centric social life. With the hot rollers, you might actually look pretty and get laid. Which would you prefer?

#43, that was easily the dumbest comment I've ever read. Seriously, what made you think that she was talking about Christmas just happening? She was obviously referring to last Christmas but she only found this out recently. And that second paragraph was just plain stupid and over-generalized on multiple levels.

Cool. I won a prize and it's not yet 8AM on a Saturday! I racked up a "Dumbest Comment Ever" award before anyone else is even awake! This is going to be a productive day. How do you know it was "obviously referring" to a specific Christmas? You'd think the OP would do some inquiring if she was expecting a laptop for Xmas, but her mom got one instead and she ended up with a booby prize. Also, people come to expect gifts from certain people to be in a consistent price range. If the OP ordinarily got gifts worth several hundreds of dollars from her mom, but got one worth

#47 (continued) My comment got truncated! less than $30 (and her mom suddenly gets a laptop), she should have been a little suspicious. The OP must be pretty stupid if she is only figuring this out 7, 19, 31 or 43 months after the fact.

YDI for celebrating a Pagan holiday. check your history people.

You're a dumb ass, Christmas is celebrating being together and gifting, and Jesus's birthday.

omfg that pisses me off for some reason!! KILL HER!!!

My friend's mom did the same thing, but with a new car - even though he was the only reason they were able to get it in the first place (their recently deceased family member's will gave it to him specifically). FYL, OP. That's all I can say.
