It's reading stories like this that inspire me to be a better father. Right now my daughter thinks I'm the best daddy in the world, and I'm going to do my damnedest to make sure that never changes.
Rock on bro!
The saying is - you can't pick your family...
...but you can pick your friends nose. Too early? Nah
you probably weren't supposed to hear that, and he's probably just trying to emotionally abuse your mother by insinuating he doesn't care about or want you, which represents their time together.
so he treats her like his own..and
The point is that he is specifically saying he wants a daughter that is not his over his own daughter. It really hurts to know that you weren't chosen, my own father asked to have 2 of my sisters when my parents got a divorce and he didnt want to keep me. It feels really bad to know (or think) that your own parent didnt want you or didnt want to fight to have you.
You gotta wonder if he's just picking the older child so that they'll be out of the house sooner than the OP. Divorce is a selfish beast, and daddy probably wants the least amount of responsibility.
Well even if he is picking the other child he can't take her because she's not his. If she wants to see him that's up to her.
37—Unless he adopted her when he married OP's mom. Legally, she would be his. However, even if that's true I'm sure the court would still rule in favor of the mom over him (if they ended up going to court to decide custody).
I hope you choose to go with your mom! I'm sorry about your parents divorce. :(
When my parents got divorced, my dad loved my sister so much, and took it as a matter of course that she was his daughter, he completely forgot she was from my mom's first marriage.
Thank you for rehashing the FML. I'm sure most of us weren't able to understand it as it was written, so we appreciate your explanation.
I don't think that's the OP
