What'd you expect? Parking, bus passes and the like through your college aren't cheap. However, it should have already been factored in/included with tuition/room and board and the like finances when you chose them months before now so I can only imagine that something slipped through the cracks with this and that it's more expensive than what might be normal because it's so last minute. Unless your college is just a really super expensive one - in which case, you shouldn't be surprised. You should have inquired about it.
Find a lift to uni, or give someone a life, and then pay them $100 to park the car at the $100 parking
OP here! To clear up one point, the bus ride wouldn't be from my home, I would drive 30 minutes to the local park and ride and then board the bus to campus, so I'm really leaning toward walking. Also, I'm a single mom so even just $100 goes a long way at our home. Either way, I'm really excited to start there! I'm finally going to finishing my engineering degree after 2 years at community college. Well, thanks to everyone for the support and advice!
That's like having no net neutrality in real life!
