Today, I'm 5 months pregnant. My 20-year-old boyfriend still refuses to tell his parents because he thinks he'll get in trouble. He thinks we can get away with "never telling them and just hiding the kid." FML

I agree that age is a number, but maturity is another thing. And it is her fault for dating and having sex, with someone who is so immature. You can tell a person's maturity soon after meeting them, she would know what he was like that and choose to be with him, and is now suffering from the consequences.

So everyone saying that 20 isn't a mature age, I just want to say my husband will be 20 in may and I just turned 23 we will be married a year in may and are expecting a baby in September, so not all 20year olds are retards. Just sayin

You are legally an adult at 18, that does not make you mature. Maturity is something you learn while growing up, and sometimes people never learn it. Just because you and your husband are mature it does not mean that these two people are. And the way he's acting it is not mature what-so-ever. But, congrats to you and your husband on your upcoming baby! I hope (s)he is healthy with no problems!

This is why people should wait longer to have sex or at least be more careful. It sucks to be in your situation, but it's hard to say you didn't deserve it because you chose to date this douche.

I clicked YDI for staying with this guy. If he is that stupid you should just leave him and demand child support off him. Or just tell his parents cause he wont. You guys made that baby, and you can't plan on hiding it forever in shame. If you do, then it's better off if you give that child up for adoption...

Maybe you should consider adoption. Sounds like neither of you are mature enough emotionally and probably not financially ready to be parents. There's so many older married couples who are waiting years to adopt a child and raise them in a loving stable home. Go to school, enjoy your youth and have a child when you are in a committed relationship where you can be proud of your pregnancy and celebrate it with your family and partner. Just something to think about. Being a young unwed mom with an immature boyfriend is not a glamorous life. By choosing adoption you could give another couple the gift of a lifetime, and open adoptions allow you to know your child and be a part of their lives. Give it some thought. Good luck to you.
