If I was with someone who was that damn picky, I would tell them to man their own damn dinner. Most girls I know do shit like this for their boyfriends all the time for no particular reason at all...a guy does it ONCE and gets all pissy when his girlfriend doesn't fall all over herself. Even if you don't make your own stock (totally reasonable since it takes, like, a day), there's more to making soup than just throwing vegetables in a pot of hot liquid, and I bet it was pretty gross if that's all you did.
