Today, I married the man of my dreams. At the after-party, my psycho grandma stood up, called for quiet, and engaged in a long rant about how this was "the beginning of the end" and advising everyone that the secret to a successful marriage is "cheating, plain and simple". FML

Look at it this way...it can only get better from here! Years from now you'll probably look back on this and laugh.

should have limited her alcohol or tamped up her meds.

Its normally the father of the bride who does such things isn't it? So much for tradition!

People these days have a fantasy about marriage and what it should be. They go in believing that this one person is going to be able to fulfill all of your emotional, physical, and spiritual needs for the rest of your life. This is total BS. I wouldn't call it "cheating," but at some point in your marriage opening it up to the possibility of having relationships with others just might save a marriage that may have otherwise ended in divorce.

you really should have tried harder to keep Granny away from the Whiskey Sours, or at least have had someone moderate her drinking. But then again, I bet she really woke everyone up with her commentary!

Heed the Wise Woman's advice!! At my wedding, my usually mild mannered Gran got drunk, danced on the table then hiked up her dress & pissed in the punch bowl! Everyone was mortified, but secretly, I was proud of her! That's a memory of a lifetime that lasted longer than my marriage!

Maybe your grandmother could have saved my marriage.
