Today, I met my fiancé's much older sister for the first time. Turns out she is actually my old high school English teacher who used to make me cry at least 3 times a week. It's been three hours and I've accidentally called her Miss Willow 4 times and been reduced to tears twice. FML

What kind of things would she do to you to make you cry 3 times a week!?

I would strongly suggest you talk to your fiancé about this. Tell him he needs to make it clear to his sister that you are going to be his wife and that she has to be nice to you if only out of respect for him. You shouldn't have to put up with this crap at every family gathering for the rest of your life.

She's not your teacher anymore. Tell her to suck it. Remind her once she becomes family you can always .settle things in the backyard.

Not to be blunt, grow up. Youre much older now and dont let her affect you.

YDI because you obviously didn't actually learn any English.

Probably because the teacher was busy being a bitch to her rather than teaching her.

Opportunity to get your fiancé to rip the shit out of her, verbally, for all the crap she put you through, and make the bitch apologise and beg for forgiveness? Probably not helpful in the long run...but it's pretty tempting.

I get being scared to speak up in high school...young & dumb. But you're a grown man now - grow a pair & act like one. suck it up man & put her in her place - she has no power here.

It's hard to go from a teacher student relationship to one that's on equal footing. My sister started teaching at a school she went to and she's had problems adjusting to working with some of her old teachers.

Once you've been through something to that's taught you to react a certain way, it's very hard to not act that way. My mom was in an abusive relationship that she got out of 15 years ago, but she still has trouble with confrontation. Same with me and my brother. When I was younger, anything I said he didn't like would get me hit. I still have trouble speaking up, though I'm getting better.

Awe that sucks OP, hope things get better! If not, have a talk with her or your fiancé and see what happens.

What the heck!?? Seriously? You are going to marry her brother and in 3 hours she was so horrible to you that she reduced you to tears twice? What sort of person speaks to another person like that? Talk about civilised - that is terrible OP, I'm so sorry!
