Today, I missed work because I was at the hospital getting treated for accidentally inhaling chlorine gas. I didn't realize that using Comet Industrial Strength Cleanser to scrub out a cat litter pan could be so hazardous. FML

YDI for not reading the directions on the bottle. But FYL for being so stupid.

Just let your cat pee and poop outside from now on. Life is easier that way.

unless you live in a subburb or in town or in any neighbourhood in which thatd make people upset

Cleaner = bleach Urine = Ammonia. Bleach + Ammonia = Chlorine gas NaOCl = sodium hypochlorite (bleach) Cl = chlorine NaOCl + 2HCl → Cl2 + NaCl + H2O Cl2 = chlorine gas sorry bout your luck

hey genius, learn how to balance a chemical equation before you post it online. Show off.

Next time, check to make sure the equation is actually imbalanced before telling someone they did it wrong, "show off." That is a balanced chemical equation. As broken down into elements, not compounds- Reactants: 1 Na, 1 O, 3 Cl, 2 H Products: 1 Na, 1 O, 3 Cl, 2 H

dude major fail. you added sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid, not ammonia idiot

2NH/3 + 2Na+(OCl)- -> Cl/2 + 2Na+(ONH/3)- i think this is right or / represent superscript of subscript

Clearly, it should be self explanatory not to inhale toxic fumes... I wish America would just stop putting Safety labels on shit.. We'd have a much better country if they were left off.

they put the safety labels on the products to avoid lawsuits from idiots like OP. true there would be fewer idiots, but the companies would quickly be bankrupt.

if it was chlorine...you'd be on life support...i had a bottle of chlorine explode in my face while deployed to iraq....life support for 48 hrs and have really bad asthma...

@ #35, having a bottle of pure chlorine explode in your face is pretty different to inhaling fumes as they are converted from a cleaning product via chemical reaction...

it depends on how much chlorine you inhale. i inhaled some chlorine when my science teacher did an experiment and the lid fell off a container full of chlorine gas that the reaction was taking place in. I spent 10 minutes outside coughing but other than that was ok!

yea that kind of exposure was normal for me...but it was 135 degrees outside and the fumes built up pressure from the powder chlorine which was 65% sodium hydroxide...and when i opened it up...the fumes fit my face cause a series of events from puking blood...fluid filling my lungs....i was medevaced and put on 24 hrs life support...

41- Wow, that's just so funny, isn't it? Grow the **** up. I hope you fall on a piece if glass and slit your throat. I'm sure the world couldn't be so lucky though.
