Today, I opened up to my parents about my depression. Their response was to have a very heated discussion about whose fault it was. FML

Instead, as good parents should do, they should be trying to help you solve your problem, not blame each other. Smh.

Unfortunately often as not the parents are a big part of the problem in situations like this. Good luck, OP, with therapy and/or meds, whatever you and your various care providers decide is the best course of action.

That's actually a pretty common reaction. News of mental illness is hard on those who don't understand it, especially parents. They just didn't know how to react properly, and they could've been defensive about it. Just be positive and try to explain to them that it's not they're fault (even if it is- that information is for a therapist.) good luck, OP!

I can see why you're depressed with parents like this.

At least they care about you.but it's sad they would feel responsible, and hope you get better

My mom does the same crap too and I try to explain to her and she just gets the totally wrong idea and it pisses me off >:(

I'm sorry! I hope you get the help you need!

Sorry, OP. Your parents are idiots. Seek help on your own.

thats why i dont tell my parents stuff i tell my friends or someone else
