Today, I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a while, but I had heard she was pregnant. I rubbed her belly and asked when she was due. She slowly backed away, giving me a weird look and said, "Two months ago." FML

Why does everyone just assume we're not close friends? She's actually one of my best friends. I hadn't seen her in a while because I was out of the country and I knew she would be ok with me rubbing her belly because with her first pregnancy she always wanted me to touch her belly. It would've been awkward if she hadn't burst out laughing. We ended laughing so hard at my stupidity that we cried.

You havent seen them in a while but felt the urge to rub their stomach?

I find it a little weird how people assume it's alright to touch a pregnant woman's stomach, especially without asking. You wouldn't just touch someone's stomach randomly, why do it when they're pregnant?!

Goddamnit you people are far too sensitive. OP you did nothing wrong...if your friend cant laugh the mistake off then she's got some ******* issues.

Read the follow up. The friend laughed it off.

She's a snot. Clearly you don't see eachother often, and she's obsessed with herself if she expects every acquaintance to know her due date and life story down to the day.

or like every other woman who gave birth, she's sensitive about her body and her hormones are going everywhere. looking pregnant when you are no longer pregnant, even though it's normal, can be disheartening for a lot of women

I don't understand this. Your not just going to magically be a size two after giving birth. I don't understand why women get so sensitive about this. And for the record I am a woman and I have been pregnant.

Well you old the news a little late...just explain yourself...

Why is it that once one is pregnant they lose all rights to their own body? It's bad enough that family and friends go in for the rub, but strangers too think they have the right. The fact that the friend felt uncomfortable does not make her a "snot".

Yeah, they should rub the guys balls as well!

OK here's the thing. I was pregnant once in my life and strangers would come up and touch me when I was pretty obvious. This is NOT OK. You don't lay hands on another person without their permission. What is WRONG with people?

You don't touch someone without their permission.

People seem to think that it's always ok to start touching pregnant ladies. It's seriously not and people need to stop.

She knows me well enough to know my feelings wouldn't have been hurt of she'd said no. If it would've been someone I didn't know as well, I wouldn't have said or done anything unless she offered.

that's weird u don't touch a pregnant persons stomach unless they give u permission.
