nerdsgetmehot is so right. For some people its very hard to be assertive. People think we think we are better than them when really all we want to do is sit and listen. If I am at a party I take pleasure in ensuring that others are enjoying themselves. I just don't have the heart to make a move on a girl or to jump into a conversation because I feel that others have already established better friendships than I have with them and that I am only intruding. This is the dominant mindset of a shy person. If you think its an easy one to shake I'd like to see you try because even the thought that "you're over thinking it" makes us feel self righteous and egotistical. Maybe I cant speak for every shy person out there but this has been my experience.
