it's all a matter of street smarts. avoid the bully... there IS always the library... OR sucker-punch the bully on the NOSE hard. one approach postpones confrontation, the other AT LEAST let's the bully know you're not an 'easy mark'. there are many other remedies. If you're smart, andthe bully is not, relish the opportunity tobshamenthe bully in class and make him look dumb... REALLY dumb. Then, make casual reference to the moment any time the bullying begins. if you can get the bully's friends to laugh at him, you're almost free. A kick to the nuts can work too. Of course if you live in a country where there's a chance of knife or gun retaliation, than FYL. that shit would be scary and if I were bullied in THAT situation... damn... not sure how I'd cope with that!
