Today, I received a grade of 0 for a paper I worked really hard on. When I emailed my professor for feedback, she told me she gave me a 0 because I misspelled Colombia as "Columbia" and that she's not responsible for my low IQ. FML

Same thing different taste

Underfunded and underappreciated

Today, I got back the essay I wrote about how my country's education system is fucked. At one point, I made a spelling mistake. My teacher wrote a note about it, basically calling me illiterate, and telling me to pay attention in school instead of whining about it. She misspelled "school". FML

I would make a complaint to the dean. It would be one thing to take a point off or even a few points, but if there was nothing else wrong with your paper than that's over the top to give a zero.

There is actually a Columbia in New York, and a country named Colombia. depending on the subject of the paper it might not be misspelled at all, and either way, no way this is a zero. Sounds like someone else's IQ should be in question.

Do you also spell ‘murica when referring to the USA? If so then the teacher is more than right.

At least you didn’t spell Kimmel F-A-L-L-O-N. That’s a bad day of spelling.

The comment section is a little bit too divided, we need to remember that OP did not say what the paper was about. OP can be talking about either the country of Colombia or Washington D.C. Just remember the D.C. stands for District of Columbia.
